A good cover letter shouldn’t simply repeat your CV. Its job is to connect your relevant experience and skills to what the company is looking for and give the recruiter a reason to keep reading.
You can use the prompts below whenever you’re applying for a remote role. For the best results, paste the full job description and your current CV instead of asking ChatGPT to work from a job title alone.
Prompt 1: Write a Cover Letter for a Specific Job
Copy and paste this prompt into ChatGPT, then add your CV and the job description where indicated.

After rewriting it, briefly explain the most important changes you made.
Before you send it
Don’t just paste the job title and say “write me a cover letter.”
The more context you give ChatGPT, the better the result. Your CV + full job description + existing cover letter (if you have one) gives it enough information to make the letter genuinely specific.
And remember: AI should help you communicate your real experience better, not manufacture experience you don’t have.
